The Foggy Dew

from Grapevine by Andrew Calhoun

/

about

Written by Canon Charles O'Neill in 1919 as a tribute to the men who died in Ireland's Easter Rebellion in 1916; the author of "Gartan Mother's Lullaby" worked as an orderly in that uprising. O'Neill compares the sacrifice of "those fearless men and few" to the passion of Christ.
